Teenagers will often enter a kitchen with a particular mission that may involve food and drink and avoid cleaning and washing up. JASPER designers know that good kitchen designs accommodates teenagers as well as the rest of the family. An effective kitchen design will also encourage good habits by making it easier to clean up.

TIPS FOR GOOD KITCHEN DESIGN WITH TEENAGERS

  • Incorporate islands and breakfast bars in the kitchen cabinetry for 2 way communication. Avoid sinks and cook tops in these spaces.
  • Maximise bench space to accommodate multiple people preparing food.
  • The best kitchens allow good access in and around the space – kitchen designs that include islands often have the best access.
  • Modern homes often involve the whole family being in the kitchen at any one time and custom cabinetry creates the best kitchens to meets everyone’s needs.
  • If possible, reduce competition for space in the kitchen by keeping the fridge, microwave and pantry cabinets close together as these  are the spaces most frequented by teenagers, leaving the rest of the kitchen less crowded.
  • Avoid concentrating activity points such as pantry cabinets and kettles in corners.
  • Provide easily accessible garbage bin cabinets – less excuses for not using it!
  • Door and bench top finishes, in custom cabinetry, can be selected from the wide range of materials  and colours available that fulfil your needs.
